High School Admissions
Follow the steps below to learn more and get started:
STEP 1: CREATE A MYSCHOOLS ACCOUNT
The high school application for 8th graders applying for Fall 2021 will be open on the week of January 18th. By now, the DOE has mailed Myschools Account Creation letters to all families. This letter has all of the information you will need to create an online account to apply for high school. Once you have created your account, you can also register for the Specialized High School exam, today!
If you have not received that letter, please email the 8th Grade Guidance Counselor, Mr. Feliciano, and he will provide you with a copy. Also, sign up for the high school admissions email list so that the DOE can notify you of important updates, key date reminders, and tips throughout the admissions process.
STEP 2: PREPARE
Read the 2021 NYC High School Admissions Guide. Scroll to the right side of this page, to the documents section, to view or download. This book is really two guides in one:
- The High School and Specialized High School Admissions Guide covers how to apply to any DOE public high schools in New York City, including the nine Specialized High Schools; it also provides maps and school listings by borough.
- The Guide to the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) offers test tips and practice exams.
STEP 3: RESEARCH
- Start exploring your high school options online with MySchools. The searchable MySchools high school directory contains the most up-to-date, detailed information on all NYC public high schools and programs. Save or print the pages of your favorite programs to browse offline.
STEP 4: WATCH THESE VIDEOS
- Watch the new video series from the DOE! It'll walk you through the steps of applying to high school in New York City.
